Before 1997, when the rental of rooms to accommodate tourists and foreign visitors in private homes or family homes was permitted and regulated, stays in Cuba would most often take place at the hotel. The National Housing Institute of Cuba is the government agency responsible for registration, licensing and control of the houses that rent rooms. Each owner is entitled to rent up to two rooms at the same time. Cuban is the owner inspected each month and must pay a monthly sum of money to fill the reasonable annual fees. Rental of rooms in private homes or in family homes is possible in the towns and villages throughout the island of Cuba. The only exceptions are the white sandy beaches and keys, or it only allows the accommodation of tourists and foreign visitors in hotels due to the strong popularity of these tourist areas. |
